LLC INTER RAO Engineering, a fully owned subsidiary of JSC INTER RAO UES, will oversee the new CCGT unit construction project.

The new power generation unit will give an opportunity to decommission the outdated coal-fired equipment of Verkhnetagilskaya TPP units one through three without reducing electricity generation or combined installed capacity. At the same time, operational and financial performance of the power plant will improve significantly.

The new generation unit will use unique steam-gas equipment primarily fueled by natural gas while being one of the most efficient setups in the industry with 57% efficiency factor.

“The start of construction work on the new advanced steam-gas power generation unit at Verkhnetagilskaya TPP is an important step in the implementation of an essential component of our overall development strategy, that is making power generation assets of INTER RAO UES Group more reliable, safe and operationally efficient. Expected improvement of the key performance indicators of Verkhnetagilskaya TPP will certainly make it more competitive in the wholesale electricity market and will help to reduce its environmental footprint,” said CEO of JSC INTER RAO UES Boris KOVALCHUK.
