Under a contract with Gazprom CenterRemont LLC, Rimera will supply pipeline valves for retrofitting and upgrading three underground gas storage facilities (UGSF). This involves deliveries for gas field and compressor facilities of Yelshanskaya UGSF, gas field facilities of Peschano-Umetskaya UGSF, and for Moscow UGSF. The deal amount is undisclosed.
The scope of deliveries includes 457 diam. 2” – 20” Class 600-900 subsurface and surface ball valves complete with pneumatic actuators made by Rotork, a partner of MSA's. Deliveries of the pipeline valves are expected in April 2014.
"Underground storage facilities are a vital element of the Russian gas system infrastructure. The reliability of valves to be supplied by MSA for these facilities is backed up both by the Gazprom certification system and other international certificates of conformance to the requirements of PED, CSN, DIN, ANSI standards. Even though our partner has been scaling back its investment program, we continue shipments of transmission pipeline equipment to Gazprom, which is mainly used in repairs on existing capacities", says Rimera Group Commercial Director Konstantin Samsonov.
UGSFs are located in areas where most gas is consumed and are an integral part of the Joint Gas Supply System of Russia. Moscow UGSF in the town of Shchiolkovo (Moscow Region) is one of the first gas storage facilities built in Russia. Over 50 years that it has been in operation, this facility turned over 100.7 bln cubic meters of natural gas, or the equivalent of annual gas consumption in Germany.
