The tractor was constructed on the 150K tractor basis.  Unlike its predecessors it is equipped with a combined rail travel, a railway automatic coupling, and a locomotive brake. KPT-1 on a combined rail travel may work with rolling stocks of a weight of eight hundred tons on a level stretch of railway, pass a radius of 80-125 meters which allows using it instead of diesel-locomotive shunters on the portions of line with an average cargo traffic.

Against old base tractors the new one is equipped with a more powerful engine and improved undercarriage.  Here lighting engineering for nigh work is improved; the cabin has more comfortable conditions for an operator, an assistant manager and a work manager.  The capacity of KPT-1 is higher that that of a basic tractor.  This equipment will be used for a full year.  

- For winter works there is mounted equipment, - explains Alexander Pischur, an operator, who will run the new tractor, – it is a special wedge for snow removal.   In summer another mounted block for the expansion and adjustment of track will be used. This is an innovation that was not used on overage equipment.

Now the new machine is under assemblage, inspection and lubrication of all working units.  Upon running, execution of documents, registration in Rospotrebnadzor the tractor will be put into operation.

All in all at the mining track section there will be two such machines.  The second wheeled rail tractor will be supplied in the current year.
