Russia and the USA have agreed on a long-term cooperation in the power energy sphere
 Russia and the USA have agreed on the development of a long-term cooperation in the nuclear power industry — this information is set in the joint application, approved after the meeting of the electric power working group, which was held in Washington within the framework of a bipartite presidential commission.
According to the document, the delegation guided by the heads of energy agencies of the two countries Sergei Shmatko and Steven Chu, «agreed on a joint action plan to solve the actual energy problems of the new century.» It determines the development of cooperation in such areas as energy efficiency, renewable energy development, development of innovative technologies in the field of a clean power industry and power security.
As for energy efficiency and renewable energy, the parties noted «the need for specific projects in each of the countries with the use of advanced technologies.” This is to „demonstrate the importance of energy efficiency in national strategies.”
In the field of the clean power industry it is planned to „promote the existing joint research works and contribute to the development of new projects.“ In this regard, the Ministries of Energy of Russia and the United States in particular, “plan to cooperate in the development of hydrogen technologies and fuel element technologies for stationary use,” continue to promote scientific achievement in the sphere of the conversion of solar energy in other forms of energy, suitable for use“.
