Smolensk NPP: power unit No. 2 is connected to the power grid after scheduled routine repair
 On July 10, 2010 at 6:34 the second power unit of Smolensk NPP was connected to the power grid after scheduled routine repair lasted from May 24 to July 10, 2010.
The power unit is being operated at capacity of 480 megawatt because of scheduled repair being carried out at turbine generator No. 4.
At present Smolensk NPP operates three power units. Their total capacity is equal to 2,435 megawatt. No deviations of equipment operation have been found.
The radiation background on Smolensk NPP industrial site and in the adjacent territory remains unchanged and complies with the natural environmental values.
Smolensk NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. Every year SNPP contributes to the country electric power system at the average about 20 bln kilowatt-hours of electric power equal to almost 13% of power generated in Rosenergoatom Concern and to more than 80% of that generated by the power plants of Smolensk region.
