The programme is being run by TNK-BP at its TNK-BP Sibir branch in Tyumen. The candidates were selected by interview from over 100 applicants. By taking part in the programme they are coming to work for TNK-BP, where they will receive a salary and extensive social benefits.
The training programme takes two and a half years, providing a holistic understanding of flow stimulation and well servicing measures and their practical application. Upon successful completion of the programme the graduates will be able to apply their new knowledge and experience as well servicing and workover supervisors or well intervention engineers.
The programme consists of theoretical courses delivered by both Russian and foreign providers, together with practical work in the oilfields as supervisors — initially as trainees. Classes begin with a study of the technologies, processes, standards and tools for well servicing and workovers, followed by the basics of field development and estimation of reservoir potential and well productivity. In early October 2010 the programme participants will begin visiting fields operated by TNK-BP subsidiaries Samotlorneftegaz, TNK-Nizhnevartovsk, Varyoganneftegaz, Orenburgneft and TNK-Nyagan to pick up practical skills.
TNK-BP leases space in the West Siberian Oil & Gas Innovation Centre (Technopark) to run the programme and accommodate company specialists.
