Irkutsk Oil Company commissions highly automated Bentec HR-5000 drilling rig at Bolshetirsky site

“Irkutsk Oil Company” has commissioned the highly automated fixed-echelon Bentec HR 5000 drilling rig at the Bolshetirsky license block. The equipment was custom-designed for the company for operation in conditions in Eastern Siberia.

Bentec signed a contract to deliver seven new Russian-made drilling rigs in 2019.

The second drilling rig is now being installed at the field, and commissioning is scheduled for June. The third unit will soon be delivered to the site and is scheduled for commissioning in early August. The remaining four are now in production, and their delivery is expected in H1 2022.

The new drilling rigs are distinguished by a high degree of automation of drilling processes. This improves the safety of operations, streamlines costs and saves time, and improves the quality of well construction.

“We intend to leverage the vast performance capabilities of the new rigs to perform more complex drilling tasks in the harsh geological conditions of our fields. I am confident that, with the new machines, we will fully perform the tasks set by geologists. Also, with the commissioning of new rigs, we are starting the process of transforming our drilling company — INK-Service,” said Konstantin Petrukhin, Deputy CEO for Drilling at Irkutsk Oil Company.

The acquisition of new rigs is part of the long-term development program of INK-Service, the drilling unit of INK Group. Among other things, it also significantly increases the commercial speed of drilling oil and gas wells.

The drilling rig was purchased using a soft loan from the Industrial Development Fund (VEB.RF).

INK-Service (drilling unit of INK Group) signed a contract with OOO “Bentec” (Russian subsidiary of German Bentec GmbH) for the supply of seven fixed-echelon drilling rigs in 2019. The equipment will be manufactured at OOO Bentec’s plant in Tyumen. The Industrial Development Fund provided part of the funds for the purchase of three rigs.

INK-Service staff undergo theoretical training at the training centre of the Irkutsk National Research Technical University. Practical training is conducted in the field, directly at the rig, under the guidance of experienced mentors.
