According to SUEK’s press service, the Glory Trader bulk carrier, with a deadweight of 77,684 tonnes, took the milestone tonne aboard. The cargo is destined for Hong Kong.

Currently, the capacity of the Vanino Bulk Terminal is 24 million tonnes of coal per year. In the next four years, this figure will be almost doubled following a capacity expansion project, which includes the construction of a second pier, that will make possible the simultaneous loading of four ships, the construction of a triple car dumper and an additional coal storage and the introduction of new and advanced re-loaders.

The project will require over 20 billion roubles in investment and will increase the annual trans-shipment volume to 40 million tonnes of coal by 2023.

In addition, the company will deliver environmental projects: the installation of the latest dust protection systems, namely, seven units, each capable of spraying up to 500 litres of water per minute, and the building of dust and wind shields 25 metres high.

JSC Daltransugol’s bulk terminal is a year-round port located in the deep-water Muchka Bay, with direct access to two independent railways: the Trans-Siberian (Transsib) and Baikal-Amur (BAM) Railways, and is the extreme, eastern point of BAM. The terminal intended for SUEK’s coal shipment began operations in 2008, with a design capacity of 12 million tonnes per year; after the upgrade, its annual capacity is now 24 million tonnes, but in some periods the terminal maintains a capacity of up to 30 million tonnes a year. The terminal handles vessels with a carrying capacity of up to 170 thousand tonnes and has its own towing fleet.

The terminal is equipped with an automated railcar unloading system and a coal warehouse having a capacity of up to 1.2 million tonnes and the latest dust suppression system. The port can accommodate and serve Capesize vessels.
