A new electrical engineering complex will provide energy for the historic center of Saint-Petersburg
 A special event was held in Saint-Petersburg to celebrate commissioning of a state-of-the-art electrical engineering complex – indoor switchgear (ISG) 110/6kV of the Central CHP plant.
The new complex equipped with a state-of-the-art automated control system is designed to receive electric power from the generating facilities of the Central CHP plant and to distribute it among consumers. Besides, the switchgear will ensure reliable and flexible transmission of energy to consumers from Okhtinskaia, Tsentralnaia, and Vostochnaia substations. The ISG will replace the outdoor switchgear (OSG) 110kV of the Central CHP plant that was built in 1968.
The complex commissioning will significantly improve reliability and stability of power supply to the historic center of Saint-Petersburg and will offer new opportunities in terms of connection of new consumers.
Besides establishment of a new ISG, the project of the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Central CHP plant implies construction of two gas turbine units 100 MW each by the end of 2016. Final decommissioning of OSG 110kV will be performed after the comprehensive rehabilitation of the plant.
