This is the first energy project of the Second Moscow 500 kV Energy Ring. The installed transformer capacity is 1669 MVA. The investments totaled 5.8 billion rubles.

The transformer plant is part of the project for construction of power distribution facilities of Unit No. 4 of Kalininskaya NPP, the General Contractor of which is STG Group.

Andrey Murov, the Chairman of the JSC FGC UES Board, congratulated those present on their professional holiday and noted the importance of the event: “We are at the first transformer plant of the Second Moscow 500 kV Energy Ring. The Federal Grid Company continues to strengthen and develop the Moscow power system. In recent years we have invested nearly 68 billion rubles in the development of the power grid complex in the Moscow Region, increased the capacity by 11.5 thousand MVA and provided a major part of the Moscow Region with extra electrical power. Today, within the framework of the investment program of the Company, we perform construction, modernization and expansion of 8 transformer plants and some overhead power transmission lines. All these will allow the region to develop industrial and social projects.”

After activation of Dorokhovo 500 kV transformer plant, there was received extra power, which can improve the power supply in a number of districts: Mozhaisky, Ruzsky, Naro-Fominsky, Odintsovsky and Istrinsky. It has up-to-date highly reliable switching equipment, automated technological process control system, microprocessor-based relay protection and automation devices, modern communication equipment, transformer monitoring systems, security systems and video surveillance systems.

Within the framework of the project for construction of power distribution facilities of Unit No. 4 of Kalininskaya NPP, STG Group performed construction of 607.5 km of power transmission lines and 8469 MVA of transformer capacity, including: KNPP - Gribovo 750 kV overhead power transmission line with Gribovo 750 kV transformer plant, Gribovo - Dorokhovo 500 kV overhead power transmission line with Dorokhovo 500 kV transformer plant and Dorokhovo - Sloboda 1 and 2 220 kV overhead and underground power transmission line. In addition, Belozerskaya 750 kV transformer plant was expanded, which included installation of 750 kV and 500 kV automated transformers and construction of 220 kV outdoor switchgear.

Apart from PJSC Stroytransgaz, the General Contractor, 28 construction and installation contractors and 7 design institutes participated in the project. Over 500 pieces of machinery and over 3000 engineers and workers were used and engaged in the construction.
