Ms. Denisa Voleková, director of the Rusatom Overseas´ (a subsidiary of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM) agency in Slovakia, mentioned in her introductory speech that the contribution of Slovak experts in the advancement of the nuclear industry, especially in the development of VVER reactor technology, is very much appreciated in Russia. “Cooperation between Russian and Slovak nuclear experts has been in progress for already more than a half century. During this period, as a result of joint efforts, has been developed a modern VVER technology, used in different parts of the world for building reliable, safe and cost-effective nuclear power plants. This cooperation has been the cooperation between equal partners and the experience of Slovak experts in the construction and operation of VVER reactors have been subsequently used in units in other countries,“ said Ms. D. Voleková.
 
Rusatom Overseas sees in the nuclear energy field the potential for a long-term cooperation also with the Slovak companies that could be included in ROSATOM´s chain of suppliers. ”In order to make the cooperation with the Slovak companies on the current and future projects more fruitful, ROSATOM has opened its marketing representative office in Slovakia. Among other things, our office endeavours to engage Slovak companies in the ROSATOM´s global supply for projects in Russia, as well as in other countries,” commented the issue Ms. D. Voleková.
 
This has been one additional reason to include in the SARIO´s 7th Matchmaking Fair the so-called Localisation Workshop for the Slovak companies. The workshop focused on the aspects of cooperation within ROSATOM’s nuclear new build projects both in Russia and in other countries. Today ROSATOM implements projects to construct 28 NPP units, and by 2030 the potential foreign orders portfolio of the corporation is estimated to reach 80 units.
 
Another prosperous field for joint cooperation is the nuclear medicine. Today ROSATOM develops projects to establish the production of modern equipment for radionuclide diagnostics and therapy, as well as project to construct high-tech irradiation centers.
 
As Anton Ovchinnikov, the Project Manager from Rusatom Overseas said: “Proton therapy is an effective and advanced therapy able to save numerous lives.”

In the same time he spoke on radiation management. As he pointed out, the affiliated companies of ROSATOM have gained profound experience in the irradiation management. “We offer a package solution for planning, production and sales of radiation technological equipment and provide services in ion-irradiation of different products,” Mr. Ovchinnikov said. On this field there are perspectives for the Slovak – Russian cooperation for the future, too.
 
Slovakia and Russia are long-lasting partners in the field of nuclear energy. Slovakia operates four units of Russian design VVER reactors, which produce more than a half of the domestic electricity. In addition to that Russia supplies the nuclear fuel for all Slovak reactors. At the moment ROSATOM considers its participation in the project of a new NPP construction in Jaslovské Bohunice in the format of purchasing shares of the company JESS.
