The Dominican Republic is experiencing an electric power capacity deficit of over 2,000 MW
 Gazprom International signed a memorandum on power generation with companies of the Dominican Republic.
Gazprom International signed the Memorandum of Mutual Understanding on Russian-Dominican Cooperation in the Energy Sphere with Transgas Caribe S.A. and the Dominican Corporation of State Electricity Companies (Corporación Dominicana de Empresas Energéticas Estatales (CDEEE)).
The document was signed by Valery Gulev, Managing Director of Gazprom International, Ricardo Canalda, President of Transgas Caribe, and Ruben Bichara, Executive Vice President of CDEEE.
At the first stage, the Memorandum stipulates the implementation of the projects for construction and operation of a number of power infrastructure facilities with guaranteed purchases of the generated electric power by the CDEEE.
