«Institute Hydroproject» enhances cooperation with powermen of Angola

According to Gilberto Monteira, Director of State Corporation GAMEK, Capanda HPP is the largest HPP in Angola and one of the ten large-scale hydraulic structures of the African Continent. The role of the project in social and economic development of the Republic is proved by the fact that the largest investments were allocated for its construction. «Capanda HPP is the main electric power supplier for the region, - stressed Bentu Lazaru, the counsellor of the Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Russian Federation, who attended the meeting. – The HPP generates 54% of all the generated power in the Republic».
At present mainly Angolan specialists work at Capanda HPP and most of them have graduated from Russian institutes of higher education. According to Valery Fedosov, the Chief Design Engineer of the project, «the great concern is non-availability of information about the condition of the dam. Our specialists in Angola are engaged only in operation of mechanical equipment. Nobody fulfills monitoring». He also added that it is planned to depute specialists of «Institute Hydroproject» to Capanda HPP in Angola for monitoring of the present condition of the station.
Minutes of Meeting were signed by the results of the meeting, where working conditions of the current cooperation were reflected and further prospects in joint work at Capanda HPP were outlined. «We are having a constructive dialog and probably in the nearest future we will sign an Agreement with the Angolan party for rendering consultancy services by the Institute », stressed Pavel Shestopalov, General Director of JSC «Institute Hydroproject».
