FNTPP: innovative product will save financial resources in the result

The status of project on construction of the first (leading) floating nuclear thermal power plant (FNTPP) of 70 MW capacity and prospects of execution thereof, became subjects of discussion with public and ecologists not just by chance: FNTPPs are new generation source of power created on the basis of Russian technologies of nuclear powered shipbuilding and purposed for reliable year-round electric power supply of industrial objects, infrastructure and population in remote districts of the Arctic and Far East of Russia, in regions with fuel shortage and extremely severe climatic conditions of the country.
As it was noted by deputy general director of JSC «Concern Rosenergoatom» – director of branch «Directorate of FNTPPs under construction» Sergey Zavyalov, construction of leading floating power unit for the first FNTPP was began in 2007. By the present moment the main part of energy equipment of the plant is produced: both reactor installations of the power unit passed testing and delivered to the Baltiysky plant, acceptance test of the first steam-turbine plant is performed. In 2010, launching of the floating power unit is planned. Beginning of the FPU testing is planned for end of 2011, delivery to customer as part of FNTPP – in the end of 2012.
«We participate in execution of state energy policy, – emphasized Sergey Zavyalov. – The leading FNTPP will provide reliable power supply of the most important base of Russian Naval forces in the Far East, objects of infrastructure and population of town Vilyuchinsk, will facilitate reduction of dependence on fuel transported from other regions». At the same time he noted that dealing with an innovative product investing significant financial resources into it, JSC «Concern Rosenergoatom» will safe much in the future at operation and construction of serial FNTPPs.
