Ukraine reduced natural gas consumption by 16% in 2014

The greatest reduction in consumption occurred among industrial consumers (4.4 bcm; from 20.1 to 15.7 bcm, -22%), helped by a reduction of gas volumes used for systemic purposes (from 4.3 to 3.7 bcm; -14%). In 2014 Ukrainian households used 15.1 bcm of gas, a 10% drop versus the previous year. District heating enterprises last year reduced their use of gas by 1.3 bcm (from 8.3 to 7.0 bcm; -16%).

These figures include Crimean gas usage for 2013 (1.7 bcm) and two months of 2014 (0.5 bcm). Excluding these data, the use of gas by the rest of Ukraine decreased by 14%. Industrial consumers reduced usage by 15% (to 16.1 bcm), households economized by 7% (to 15.0 bcm), and district heating enterprises used 8% less (to 7.0 bcm).

Natural gas consumption decreased in all regions of Ukraine and for all categories of consumers last year.
