Ukrainian natural gas usage fell by 19% in December versus the previous year

The first three categories of consumers are covered by Government Decree 296 (dated 9 July 2014) which set out to reduce natural gas usage. These targets were missed by 25.6%, with specified consumers using approximately 3.0 bcm instead of the forecasted 2.4 bcm. At the same time, households last month used 2.3 bcm, which was 12% less than in December 2013.

The largest overruns of the obligations set out in Decree 296 were observed in Rivne (75% over target), Cherkasy (+ 63%), Ternopil (+ 61%), Kyiv region (+ 53%) and Kyiv City (+ 40%).
